Black Sabbath extend their world tour to 2014

Less than two weeks before they release their new home video, Black Sabbath have something else to share with fans: new tour dates. And they’ll keep the veteran rockers on the road until April 2014.

The band has been busy the past several months, swinging through North and South Americas, Australia, Asia and — starting next week in Helsinki — Europe in support of "13". And now they’ve added a dozen more dates to their schedule. And if you live in North America, especially in Canada, you’re in luck. The new leg of the tour kicks off on March 31 in New York and wraps up on April 26 in Los Angeles. But in between, the group will hit Great White North cities like Montreal and Calgary. The full itinerary is below.

In the meantime, Sabbath’s new Blu-ray and DVD, "Live … Gathered in Their Masses", comes out on November 26 and features songs from the April 29 and May 1, 2013, tour dates in Melbourne. Fans can preorder it from BlackSabbath.com.

Tickets for the new tour go on sale November 22. The band has set up a site for fans to RSVP for early access to pre-sale tickets, which will be available on November 20.

After Sabbath do one final run through North America, they’ll head back to Europe for a last string of shows there, effectively ending their marathon, yearlong tour in support of their first No. 1 album.

Black Sabbath won three Classic Rock Awards: Album of the Year, Event of the Year, and nominated Living Legends

Black Sabbath were named Living Legends and took home a total of three honors at the 2013 Classic Rock Awards at the Roundhouse in London Thursday night.

The big winners of the event, put on by Classic Rock magazine, Black Sabbath were honored as Living Legends, Album Of The Year for “13”, and Event Of The Year for hitting No. 1 in the UK after 43 years of releasing records. Sabbath’s Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler were on hand for the awards presentations.

Tony Iommi said: "Thanks for everything. It's great to see all these old and new faces. It's fantastic to get the awards," he continued. "When we started out we never thought about it, you just wanted to play. Even this time now, we never thought for a minute it would get to number one, we just wanted to make an album."

Tony, who is being treated for cancer, said: "The treatment is going alright, I had one 10 days ago."

We can call him Doctor Iommi: Tony gets honorary degree from Coventry University!

Awesome news arrived from UK! Birmingham Mail just shocked us when we've read that!

'Iommi, who co-founded Black Sabbath in Birmingham in 1968, will receive an Honorary Doctorate of Arts (Hon Darts) from the university during its graduation ceremonies in Coventry Cathedral on Tuesday (November 19).

The university says the degree has been awarded "in recognition of his contribution to the world of popular music; in particular being recognised as one of the founders of heavy metal music and one of the greatest and most influential musicians of all time".

Iommi, aged 65, will head straight from the ceremony to Helsinki where Black Sabbath will begin the European - and final - leg of their world tour. The music legend is in fine shape despite battling cancer, and his playing has received rave reviews at every stop on the world tour. The band released their latest album 13, which was critically acclaimed and topped charts around the globe, earlier this year. The tour ends with two hometown gigs at Birmingham’s LG Arena on December 20 and the city’s National Indoor Arena on December 22 .

Iommi said: “It’s a great honour to receive the doctorate, which comes towards the end of a challenging but amazingly successful year for me. I’d like to thank everyone at Coventry University for my nomination and look forward to meeting them at the ceremony.”'

Still speechless from the sudden news, we can only say: CONGRATULATIONS DEAR TONY! He well deserved this, and it's great that such a prestigious university like Coventry is going to have Tony as their honorary member - The Doctor!
His die hard fans were dreaming for years for an honour like that, and finally it's going to be real!

Revolver officially names Sabbath's "13" album of the year! More 2014 dates announced: Germany, Russia, Poland, Austria and Italy gigs!

Revolver Magazine have officially named Black Sabbath's "13" as the album of the year in their annual Top 20 list of rock and metal releases.

"13" topped the charts in nine countries around the globe, including both UK and the US, earning Sabbath their very first Billboard 200 chart-topper with 155,000 units shipped within the first week. As far as the UK is considered, the 43-year gap between their previous No. 1 album, 1970's "Paranoid," meant yet another record for the metal pioneers as the longest period between the two chart-toppers", says Ultimate Guitar.

Tony's band has announced more live dates for 2014, scheduling more June dates in Europe. Their 2014 schedule now looks like this:

Black Sabbath will tour in 2014!

Really great news from Tony and the band were published yesterday on Bravewords.com. Black Sabbath have announced their first festival appearances for next year. The band will headline Austria's Nova Rock Festival 2014, taking place June 13th - 15th at Pannonia Fields, located in Nickelsdorf.

Nova Rock is Austria's biggest rock music festival, and also one of the largest in Europe. Read more details here.

Black Sabbath will also perform on June 11th at Atlas Arena in Lodz, Poland. Sabbath are looking forward for more touring, and probably will give us soon some cool surprises! Stay tuned!

Tony Iommi: I can't wait for Black Sabbath's Birmingham shows

That's what Birmingham Mail published about our Tony on the last article. We already partly posted new Tony's message, but here's something interesting again...

Rock legend head for European leg of world tour after playing to hundreds of thousands of fans on the other side of the Atlantic. 

Tony Iommi has his sights set on the band’s big Birmingham homecoming double whammy. After completing a barnstorming tour of North and South America at sold-out arenas, the 65-year-old rock star is now heading back to Europe. And that means emotional end of tour shows at Birmingham’s LG Arena on December 20 and the city’s National Indoor Arena on December 22 are getting closer.

Iommi is in fine shape despite battling cancer, and his playing has received rave reviews at every stop on the world tour.

“Many thanks to everyone that came to see us on our tour to South and Latin America,” he told Facebook followers. “Quite an experience with huge crowds – I’m told there were 74,000 in Sao Paulo and 60,000 in Mexico City. Also, I must thank Megadeth – a great band and really good people to work with. I hope they enjoyed it as well.”

He has, he added, just two grumbles after the triumphant tour which has seen Sabbath playing many of their classic songs alongside new tracks from reunion album, 13.

“No thanks to whoever was coughing and sneezing on the overnight Air France flight down – he gave me a dreadful cold virus,” said Tony, “Or whoever stole my trainers from the back of the stage in Buenos Aires! Otherwise, all pretty good – colder at night than I was expecting but an amazing reception from all the fans. It’s going to be strange playing indoors again but outdoors in Helsinki in November? I don’t think so! I’m looking forward to being back in Europe – I had to miss out when I was taken ill in 2012, so it’ll be great to get another chance to play here.”

Earlier this year Tony revealed how he was looking forward to seeing friends and family again upon the band’s return to Birmingham. “To be finishing off our European tour dates in Birmingham just before Christmas is great,” he said. “There’s no place quite like your hometown. No place quite like Birmingham. It was at the Academy that we played our first reunion gig and the welcome we got was incredible. Just what the doctor ordered. Now we’re playing at the NEC and the NIA. Going to be great!”

The band would have played two shows at the LG Arena on the NEC site, but the extra date they wanted was unavailable, hence the move across town to the National Indoor Arena in the city centre.

Tony's new message!

The last 31st October Tony posted a message on his Official website Iommi.com:

"Many thanks to everyone that came to see us on our tour to South and Latin America. Quite an experience with huge crowds, I'm told 74,000 in Sao Paulo and 60,000 in Mexico City. It was sensational tour, Tony and the guys were so great as they were in golden days of their youth! We thank our Iron Man and wish him good rest, full recovery, and happy day at home! We can't wait to see you in Europe, Tony!

In regard of a person who stole Tony's trainers ... Let's say it was a silly deed, yeh? (We prefer not to use stronger terms ...) You're just not a true fan! If you repent of what you've done, and you feel your conscience dirty, find a way to return them back to Tony! You probably know how to do it, you've been in Tony's room at the backstage, in kinda privileged position, isn't! We hope that you'll decide to do it.

Tony is back home after Latin American tour leg

Black Sabbath's Latin American tour leg successfully finished with the groundbreaking gig at Mexico City's Foro Sol 26 October. 70.000 fans were present here, a real human ocean going in ecstasy under the mighty wall of sound created by Iommi.

Latin American Sabbath fans were camping at venue gates days before the gigs, and standing day and night at hotel doors where our Tony, Geezer and Ozzy stayed. 

"A group of die hard Black Sabbath fans have camped out at the gates of the National Stadium in San Jose (Costa Rica), with tickets in hand, to be the first to enter the stadium. They have been camping out since Thursday for the concert that will take place on Tuesday. By Friday afternoon, the number had grown to ten, and by this Monday more than 50 are expected to join them. Some of the problems this young group has faced, so far, is the insults like “Vagos sin trabajo” (lazy unemployed, in English) of passersby who do not understand their “love” for the rock band", writes local newspaper.

Gustavo Vara, Brazilian photographer, rock journalist and blogger kindly shares with us his excellent review of Black Sabbath gig! It's a 19 min long video showing the ocean crowd, fans going crazy when the first sounds of War Pigs began, and the legendary Brummies appear on the stage! Tony's soloing takes your breath!

Tony wishes Bill Ward "A Speedy Recovery"

Black Sabbath drummer Bill Ward recently suffered a perforated diverticulitis and underwent surgery in California. The procedure was successful, and Bill is expected to make a full recovery over the next several weeks.

Tony posted the following well-wishes on his Official website Iommi.com and Facebook page on 15th October 2013:

Sorry to hear you've been unwell hope you make a speedy recovery.

Tony together with his mates Ozzy Osbourne, Geezer Butler and Tommy Clufetos is currently touring in South America. The groundbreaking gigs in Buenos Aires (Argentina), Porto Alegre, Sao Paulo, Rio De Janeiro (Brazil) were incredibly successful for the band - 70.000 fan huge crowds went nuts! Tony's wall of sound made a delirium in Latin America!
